I love this for getting cinematic “jib” type shots. I think the thing that is most appealing is the smoothness of the shots and the simplicity of using the Grav Grip. This is going to make my videos epic!
I bought this because I don't need to charge it. It's always in my camera bag. I mainly use my DJI Osmo gimbal, but GRAVGRIP is convenient for shots on the go and really easy for crane style shots.
Gravgrip is really good for low/high camera transitions. I get some awesome b-roll shots with my cell phone and their extension pole. Fast action shots is definitely better when my gopro is hooked up.
Definitely install the little gear they include for when using with cell phone. This made all the difference for letting my phone rotate smoothly. Overall very happy, I just wish I knew to install that little gear when I first set it up. It does mention it in the user guide, but I missed it.
My first GravGrip was through the initial Kickstarter campaign. It worked great...most of the time. Ha! The challenges I had initially were addressed with v2 in the locking cap and the phone holder. However, v2, didn't come with counter weights so I improvised and added an extension. The weight of my iPhone 11 Pro Max with case would cause the shaft to come lose and my phone would spin in the opposite direction. Plus, I added a small Manfroto LED light to the phone holder so the extra counter balance weights allow me to adjust and have more control.
If this review has any influence, I'd really like a handheld holder instead of the adjustable pole. Something shorter, compact, and sturdy.
Thank you for your review! We are happy to see you're enjoying GravGrip V2.
I think you're going to like what we have been working on. It addresses the challenges you have faced ;)
